Public transport
The SWR TV Tower is just a few minutes’ walk from the “Ruhbank (Fernsehturm)” and “Waldau” stops. You can get there by taking subway lines U7, U8 or U15, or bus line 70. From Stuttgart Central Station, the U7 will take you to the ‘Ruhbank (Fernsehturm)’ stop in just 11 minutes, while the U15 takes 16 minutes.

Car
Via the B27 (from the north): Turn off the B27 onto Dobelstraße. Turn right onto Sonnenbergstraße and continue along the road as it becomes Richard-Wagner-Straße and Payerstraße. At the end of the road, turn right onto Pischekstraße, which becomes Jahnstraße. Take the exit for S-Möhringen, S-Degerloch and Waldau, then take the second on the left and turn left again for Fernsehturm.
Via the A8: Take exit 52a-52b Stuttgart-Degerloch/Stuttgart-Möhringen and take the B27 for S.-Möhringen-Ost. Veer right following the sign for “GAZi-Stadion” onto Jahnstraße. Turn right and then immediately left to Fernsehturm.
The SWR TV Tower has its own free parking.
Please note that the SWR TV Tower is located within the low-emissions zone. There are Park & Ride car parks outside the low-emissions zone around Stuttgart, e.g. at the railway stations in Plochingen, Waiblingen, Winnenden, Backnang, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Leonberg, Goldberg, Herrenberg, Gärtringen and Leinfelden. The car parks are signposted with railway station, S-Bahn or P+R symbols. Parking charges are €1-2 per day. From there, you can take the S-Bahn city train to Stuttgart Central Station and then switch to the U7 towards “Ostfildern” or the U15 towards “Heumaden”. Get off at the “Ruhbank (Fernshturm)” stop and walk a few minutes to the SWR TV Tower.

The Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH webcam shows live images of the panoramic view from the observation platform. It also displays data on the current weather conditions, e.g. the temperature, wind speed, and rain. Need-to-knows for your visit
When planning your visit to the SWR TV Tower (without a guided tour), allow approximately 60 minutes for your arrival, ticket purchase, and visit to the viewing platforms. Expect longer queues on weekends.
There is a small playground and seating area where you can take a break and have a snack outside the main entrance.
Beyond that, there are plenty of other options and destinations you can combine with your visit to the SWR TV Tower:
- Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and on public holidays from April to October, you can take the Hop On Hop Off Bus, which stops at the SWR TV Tower as part of its “Green Tour.”
- Combine your visit to the SWR TV Tower with a pleasant 20-minute walk to the „Santiago-de-Chile-Platz“ viewpoint and then take the cog railway to Marienplatz (from the Haigst stop) or the subway to the main station (from the Weinsteige stop).
- Here in Waldau, there are other exciting destinations such as the GAZi Stadium, the Stuttgart Ice World, or an indoor climbing center. The Haus des Waldes is about a 20-minute walk from the TV Tower.
- If you are arriving by coach, you can add a city tour of Stuttgart.
- The Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest takes place every spring. It is about a 30-minute walk from the SWR TV tower. Coach parking is available at Wasen.
- The Cannstatter Volksfest takes place every fall. It is about a 30-minute walk from the SWR TV tower. Coach parking is available at Wasen. . In the run-up to Christmas, the Stuttgart Christmas Market takes place around the town hall. Buses can park free of charge at Wasen without having to register.
- The Esslingen Medieval and Christmas Market also takes place in the run-up to Christmas. Coach parking is available in Esslingen.
